Acute laryngitis (acute laryngitis) usually begins as viral inflammation, but bacterial superinfections are possible. In unfavorable cases too strong a vocal load in the acute phase of the inflammation can lead to lasting damage. Therefore, voicing or silence is recommended.

Depending on the nature and severity of the inflammation, antibiotic treatment may also be indicated. It can take several weeks to fully recover the voice. Normally, complete healing occurs without permanent changes.

The main therapy is voice therapy, in rare cases also vocal fold augmentation.
